Mission of SAL Twelve Step Recovery Meetings: To help individuals, couples, and families recover from the harmful effects of pornography, sexual addiction, and associeated betrayal trauma, by working the Twelve Step Program.
Principles of SAL Women's Twelve Step Recovery Meetings
1. This is a spiritually based program acknowledging that God is at the center of our recovery. SAL meetings begin and end with a prayer from the heart. James 5:16 is our guide, "pray one for another that ye may be healed."
2.We come to meetings to find support, but recovery from betrayal trauma is our goal. We focus each meeting on recovery and healing through working the Twelve Steps. Working with a sponsor (a support person), and being a sponsor, will greatly enhance our recovery work.
3.The only requirements for membership are: a problem of sexual addiction in a relative or friend, women only: ages 18 and older. Those who desire their own recovery and healing are welcome.
4.Meetings must be a safe place for recovery and healing from betrayal trauma. Sharing in meetings will be based on personal experience with an emphasis on recovery experiences and activities related to working the Twelve Steps. We do not give advice. We share our strength, hope, and experience. There is not cross talk during this portion of the meeting. This is an anonymous program, “who you see here, what is said here, let it stay here.”
5.The groups will use S-Anon Recovery materials, as their basic Twelve Step study, as well as other recovery based resources.
We use the S-Anon Twelve Step book during our meetings. You may purchase one here (http://www.sanon.org/Store/). If you are attending and in-person meeting, you may purchase a book from the group.
